This site is a tribute to Andy Roberts, whose career I've followed since seeing him with the Scaffold and The Liverpool Scene in the late 1960s. Liverpool was a buzzing place. The Everyman Theatre was hosting exciting productions and I can recall Andy playing in the wings or in that dark hole laughingly called the orchestra pit, although not for the production of Chaucer's Tales, during which mice ran wild on stage! I can recall Mary Whitehouse criticising The Liverpool Scene on live local television for being talentless youths (all except the "little one who plays guitar" - Andy!). And happily, through the alcohol induced haze, I can also remember riotous evenings of music, poetry and satire in O'Connors Tavern, the Scene's home venue. And of course I will always have fond memories of poetry readings by Roger McGough & Adrian Henri backed by Andy's tasteful guitar playing. Grimms, several years later, added to this multi - media melting pot that seemed to highlight the direction that Andy has since followed. There can't be many professional musicians who have explored such a variety of creative avenues. Andy has produced impressive solo albums, been a founder member of what could be the foremost acoustic group in the UK, Plainsong, has acted as right - hand man, not only to Iain Matthews solo work, but also to Roy Harper and Neil Innes. He has played with Pink Floyd and the Hank Wangford Band, was Musical Director at the Royal Court Theatre in London and has in recent years provided incidental music and written themes and scores for TV, film and theatre.
